Simple Clean Eating

Simple Clean Eating

When discussing reducing toxin exposure, we often frame the conversation in terms of cleaning up our beauty and home products. But there are plenty of toxins in our food, and that’s why simple, clean eating is so darn important.

My guest this week is Board-Certified Holistic Nutritionist and author Tonya Harris. Tonya experienced the benefits of a healthier food firsthand when her son—who displayed tell-tale signs of ADHD—significantly reduced his symptoms after cutting the nasties from his diet. These days, Tonya believes that simple, clean eating starts by focusing on micro-habits, and so she’s on the show to share small changes you can make to your panty that won’t break the bank or upend your life.

Here’s a preview of this week’s episode:

[7:20] Why simple, clean eating starts with investing in organic, plus: differentiating between the different ‘organic’ labels at the supermarket

[12:00] What not to eat if you want to lose weight

[20:00] What not to eat if you want to alleviate a specific symptom

[28:00] What not to eat if you’re pregnant or if you want to reduce your cancer risk

Beyond the Beige

We’ve all seen the images. The stark white rooms, the single designer chair, the perfectly curated capsule wardrobe. We’re told that if we just clear the clutter, we’ll find peace.

But if we’re not careful, the minimalist aesthetic can become just another thing to buy, another thing to consume.

On today’s show, Melora Johnson deconstructs the modern minimalist movement so that each of us can move from the clutter-free, beige-everything  minimalist aesthetic to a deeper, more sustainable practice rooted in intentionality.

Here’s a preview:

[7:30] Feeling that donation high? Here’s why decluttering and donating feels so good in the moment but often fails to stop the cycle of re-accumulation

[11:30] Can authentic minimalism exist in a consumerist culture?

[16:00] Candid thoughts on how and why minimalism has been commercialized

[25:00] How to tell if your minimalism is driving more shopping or actually shrinking your ecological footprint

[28:30] Listen to your whispers!
